Applying the same Speedstack config to multiple users
Polar products have a separate set of configuration information for each user account, allowing the user to customise the software based upon their own preferences. If it is desirable to use the same configuration amongst multiple user accounts the following procedure can also be used to copy the configuration between accounts.
Locating the Speedstack configuration files
On Windows 10 and 11 systems the Speedstack configuration files are usually located in the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Polar\Speedstack folder.
To confirm the location C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\ folder on your system open a Command Prompt and enter ‘Set AppData’
The following are the Speedstack configuration files:
- Speedstack.inix – contains general settings including colours, default structure values, file location paths and license selections
- Defaultprintsettings.prs – the technical report settings.
Note: If you use multiple report formats there will be other files with the .prs file extension that should also be copied
- ColumnOrder.mlcx – the Material Library column selection order. If you use the Speedstack Material Library default column order it will not be necessary to copy this file
- ManufacturingOptions.mopx – the manufacturing constraints used for the DRC checks
- FinishingMethodSettings.optx - contains settings for the Apply Finishing option
- MaterialsLibraryFilters.optx – the Material Library filter settings
- OnlineLibrary.optx – the Online Library settings
Applying the configuration files to multiple users
On your default system with Speedstack installed:
- Run Speedstack for the first time - This will create a series of configuration files containing default values
- Customise Speedstack to the standard you want your users to use
- Close Speedstack
- Locate the Speedstack configuration files on the default system using the procedure described above
- Save these files to an area that can be accessed by all users preferably allowing only Read Access
For multiple users:
- Use a logon script (which runs when a user logs onto a device) to copy the files from Step 5 above
- Paste the files to the users Speedstack folder identified above under Locating the Speedstack configuration files
- This will ensure that any changes made during a Speedstack session by a user will be defaulted back to the standard values when they next logon
